There are 13 children’s and youth centers spread all across the city. Open to all, they offer a wide range of leisure activities. The City of Heidelberg invests around two million euros every year in these centers.

Activities include sports and crafts, drama, dance and music workshops – and increasingly also advice and support services such as help with homework and applications and support in dealing with problems at home or school. But no one is forced to come: Everyone is free to decide for themselves whether they will come to one of the centers, and what they would like to do there.

The Haus der Jugend (House of Youth) is a central children’s and youth center for the entire city. It is Heidelberg’s biggest recreational facility for children, young people and families.
